golden week in japan should i change the dates?

my original dates are from 4/22/12 - 5/3/12 and i just realized that the golden week starts at 4/29 this year and i planed to do some shopping on the last 2 days while i'm there, i've never been to japan on golden week before but i heard it's crazy, should i change the date to 4/15/12 - 4/26/12 instead? like a week ahead? or it won't make a different? thank you =D

    skip it. if you were already in the country it would be one thing, but traveling and trying to get accommodations during Golden week is an exercise in frustration.

    In fact when I lived there we used to stay home during GW as it was just too dang insane on the trains/subways and in the city.

    It is really up to you, but Golden Week (April 27 to May 6) is one of the worst times to travel in Japan. Trains, hotels and tourist places are extremely crowded during this period and prices are a lot higher than usual making this a bad time to travel in Japan.

    I think you better change the date if you can. Unless you want to enjoy crowd.
