what would the penalty be in this situation?

I signed up for a sublease with this other guy. However, it doesn't look like I'll be able to pay the rent, and I can't seem to find someone to sublease it out to. The landlord said that she will evict the other guy and take me to court over it. What sort of penalty will there be in court?

Update:

I've been forced to move to texas, and the apartment is in mississippi. I don't have a job, so I'd be unable to pay any court fines or anything. Hell, I don't even know if I'd have transportation to MS, so I'd be unable to show up to court.

It would be in small claims court and the penalty will be monetary. You can estimate your loss by reading your contract, you will owe any unpaid months rent for when you physically lived there and the per month fee for breaking the contract early.
