    2x^2+x=10

    x(2x+1)=10

    OK, now, we say there are 3 conditions:

    2*5=10

    5*2=10

    1*10=10

    two last conditions are wrong on this question, so, the first one is right:

    x=2

    it's an easy way, you can also use another ways, like the first answer.

    The first answer above is correct. You can just use the quadratic formua. However, to see where those numbers come from, rewrite your equation:

    2x^2+x-10=0

    (2x+5)(x-2)=0 (If you foil this you get the equation above)

    Now for the equation to equal 0, either 2x+5=0 or x-2=0. If 2x+5=0 solve for x to get x=-5/2. If x-2=0 solve for x to get x=2.

    Just use the quadratic formula.

    If you want to find the value of x in ax^2+bx+c=0 and a,b,c are constants, then

    x=[-b±sqrt(b^2-4ac)]/(2a)

    In this case x= -5/2 and x=2.
