Car Warranty company sending Insurance adjuster. Are they totalling my car?

Hi. My car broke down out of the blue, and it's still under warranty. It has a lot of mechanical problems, but only 40,000 miles. Can they total my car and pay me out, or do they have to fix it?

Update:

I am asking if it is possible for them to do that and just not fix my car. I need to make plans if they are taking my car!! Thanks.

The only way they will total your car is if repairs are more than book value so i am guessing that it is a late model car with 40 k. on it that repairs would have te be over 10 k . they just want to verify the problem due to so many people trying to rip off insurance co.

I've never seen a WARRANTY agreement, that allows them to NOT fix the car.

Depends on what the insurance adjuster finds - that is why they are sending him/her.
