How can I work on embracing my sexuality?

I'm 17 and clearly bisexual. It has been very obvious to me for about 6 years now. I've been in the closet until the past few months. Everyone in my family knows except my grandfather. Most of my family is okay with it, or they are willing to pretend being okay with it to make me happy. People at school know (I'm a senior).

I like girls.. I really do. But every time I start talking to one, I get really afraid of what everyone else is going to think and I back off. I never have this problem with boys.

How can i just get over this and embrace myself? I don't want to live my whole life being afraid...

When you are happy with it, they won't matter. When you accept that it is what it is, and that you are who you are, you will begin to understand that your fear is your enemy. Be proud and confident of who you are and who you want to love and forget that others have a problem with it.

You have the choice of embracing your sexuality or not. Lots of people would care less about what you did in the bedroom unless they're interested in you. If you feel like you want to keep it a secret or reveal it, that's your choice. Although you shouldn't be afraid of letting people know, you should also not be afraid of keeping it a secret. Despite what people are saying to be "out and proud," you don't have to broadcast it if you feel uncomfortable.

I like girls too. I just don't EVER want to have sex with them.

Long answer, short: what others think of you is none of your business.

When you truly know it, you'll be free.
