What is the big deal with Dexter?

I personally love the TV Show dexter but I got to thinking it is very well written but its really not that different than other detective shows (except the main character is a serial killer). Just a small question what is the big deal ?

Yes, its the original idea - we sympathize with a character who is a serial killer.

The TV show took it a bit farther then the original books - creating the irony of the anti hero who see himself as "not human" but in fact is human like us all, with emotions and pain.

The actors ability to act could be disagreed, but I think Michael C. Hall is a "one stop shop" in general (the guy can sing, dance, and act - watch six feet under and you'll see for yourself, I wish I could see him in Cabaret on Broadway !).

As for well written..... I love the show - but there are WAAAYYY too many holes in the plot in order for the story to continue....

For example: Dexter gets hit - and there are no bruises, cops waiting on the blood spattern guy before they walk into a crime scene for the first time (this happend now in season 6 - and was CLEARLY done so that Dexter could see and destroy an incriminatory painting - THE COPS NEVER WAITED BEFORE, there was no apperent reason for it either).

So what's the big deal ? Yes, its another "detective show" but a fun one !

U must be kidding me ?!

Dexter is the best show ever !!

And what is the best about Dexter is the characters themselves specially Dexter and how he wants to be a normal human like everyone else :)
