How do I go about getting into college?

I wan't to attend at the start of next fall. I will be 23, never been to college. I got my GED when I was 16 in a program called ngycp. I filled out my fafsa online, I filed as indipendent because I have no ties with my parents. I make only about 12000 a year. Would I qulify for a grant? Is there a website to guide me in the right direction?

Whether or not you have ties with your parents does not matter. If you are under 24, not a veteran, not married or a parent, and your parents are living, you won't be considered independent unless a financial aid administrator can make a documented determination of independence. Talk to someone in the financial aid office of the college you would like to attend.
