How can I make my cat come out of hiding?

My family and I just went on a vacation over Christmas and left our cat in the house with bowls of food and water and two kitty boxes like we do every vacation. It was for a week and we had our neighbor check on her every other day to refill everything.and play with her a bit. When we got back earlier she wouldn't come out. I know she's there because she poked her head out from behind the couch before scampering off. The house is a little cold because we didn't have the heat on high until we got home and it's freezing outside so my guess is she's found a nice warm spot to hide out. She won't come out for food or water or toys. Truthfully, I think she's just mad than we left her so long and she's being a brat because of it. Any ideas for getting her to come out? Thanks!

Its very possible that your cat could be a little upset from being left with a stranger for so long. But to get your kitty out from hiding, you could try using catnip. If that works on your cat (which it doesn't on all) than she might come out for it!! You could also try just leaving her alone for a while because eventually she might warm up to you again and come on out;) Maybe if you left a bowl of treats or a soft bed outside her hiding spot she might come out for that. Good luck!!^_^

She's annoyed that you left. Don't agitate her by chasing her and trying to get her out. Cats need to sulk sometimes and give you a hard time for hurting their feelings. They are "Gods" remember?? ;-)

Just give her some time and put some delicious treats like chicken liver or tuna or chicken pieces out for her. She will be ok in a few days, she just wants you to feel bad. :-)

You are right. She is giving you a royal hissy-fit over you 'abandoning' her. She is really giving you the cold shoulder. She will forgive you, but it will take some time. It has to be on her schedule.

Your cat is just mad that you left.

If you just sit next to her favorite place or something, she'll come up to you.

You could always try catnip. They go crazy over that stuff. Litrally
