17 year old worried about heart condition?
im 17 years old...last year i was diagnosed with high blood pressure....about 130/65 but then it went down for a long time to an average of about 110/65 so that was good. My doctor was concerned though about it when it was high and sent me to a cardiologist. They did x-rays, and ekg and something else and everything came back completely normal. Im an athlete though and with all these deaths of young kids from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy im worried about it. Sometimes during exercise like during football practice for about a week i would get slightly light headed for a bit then i would be fine. My heart rate when i got home from practice everynight was always between90-110 but would return to normal in about an hour or so. Football ended like a month ago though and i havent done anything since then.(put on 5 lbs) The other day i went on my treadmill and jogged for 5 minutes then sprinted at 14 mph for a minute but had to stop and get off. My blood pressure was 150/80 after this and it freaked me out. My normal resting heart rate is about 60-70 bpm...im just worried i might have a heart condition so can someone help me out??................my bp has been about 120/70 lately too...I also have pretty bad anxiety so i worry about this all the time, especially during exercise which probably doesnt help my stamina much...but can someone please give me some insight

Hi John
Your blood pressure 120/80 is normal. So is your pulse.
Practice relaxation techniques. When practiced regularly, relaxation techniques such as mindfulness meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, and deep breathing can reduce anxiety symptoms and increase feelings of relaxation and emotional well-being.
Adopt healthy eating habits. Start the day right with breakfast, and continue with frequent small meals throughout the day. Going too long without eating leads to low blood sugar, which can make you feel more anxious.
Exercise regularly. Exercise is a natural stress buster and anxiety reliever. To achieve the maximum benefit, aim for at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise on most days.
Get enough sleep. A lack of sleep can exacerbate anxious thoughts and feelings, so try to get 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep a night.
Google anxiety symptoms and treatment. To much information to write here.
Take care
