Good quality cars? Good gas mileage?
What cars are good cars that don't have too many problems as they get older? What are the best car makers? Ford Honda Chevy? Is a Chevy cruze or ford focus a reliable car? We want something that gets good gas mileage and will last a long time. Any suggestions?

Considering Yahoo bashes one car one minute, MotorTrend, C&D, AW, etc praises it the next then Yahoo jumps on the band wagon with them, Yahoo autos is garbage. I own a 2003 Chevy Impala LS with the 3.8l engine and this thing is a beast. I get 22-24MPG CITY and 28+ HWY in a large sedan peaking at 3500lbs curb weight plus nearly 500 more with all the stuff in my trunk and me in there. Insurance is cheap, parts/repairs are cheap, gas is cheap cause you need not fill up often and it's FULL SIZE. The 3.8l boasts 200hp which is plenty. The engine is bullet proof and with regular maintenance will last you 300,000 miles+ on the ORIGINAL engine and TRANSMISSION. If you are into modding, which I am, this car has tons of options, but unlike Honda you won't look like a ricer fanboy modding your car.....plus you won't have a fart can exhaust. I just recently put a fenderwell intake into my LS and here's a vid clip of it.

Ford is the more reliable. Honda uses a lot of GM parts, and GM is one of the lowest quality car makers in the world. There are worse, but those cars are made in France, Italy or Korea.
Now just to back this up, I used Yahoo Autos to compare 2011 models (the figures are not complete for the 2012 Honda). The Cruze has the highest projected cost for repairs and maintanance, with the Focus being the lowest in these areas.
That is a neat tool to compare newer cars with, so give it a try.

Stevie,
The Chevrolet Cruze is a great car! There is a turbo 4 cylinder available that gets up to 42 MPG on the highway. It also comes with 36 months/ 36,000 mile Bumper-to-Bumper limited warranty and 5 year/ 100,000 mile Powertrain limited warranty, this could save you money in the long run too!
Good luck with your vehicle purchase!

Ford Focus's are very reliable as long as they are 2004 or newer.
Some good ones to stick with:
Honda
Acura
Mazda ( My favorite)
Ford
Toyota
Scion
Subaru
If you are looking at new cars check out the 2011 or 2012 Mazda 3 with skyactiv technology. Very reliable, and 40mpg.

Personally i like Chevy the best, but you should go with a Ford. I hate the Focus for its looks, but you may like it.

Get a honda, these american cars always have problems. My dad's had a honda accord for 10 years now, and hasn't had a single problem with it.
