how does a Dr BURN a nerve? Will I be asleep?

Injections don't work surgery didn't work and neither did the PT after words. Tell me what you know please. I am pretty nervous about giving the go ahead. Also what will it cost me ?

Update:

I was hurt at work. I had a failed back surgery. It was during the big rage of a Back cage with the titanium disk replacement. The idea was the nerves were supposed to grow thru this cage type thing(shaped like a Bicycle link). And mine never did. Actually I believe they were recalled.Well you can't retrieve them. THey took some bone from my hip and mixed it with( I don't know..super glue? )a hardening substance of some kind and its in there to stay. My sciatic nerve is turned up on high and it thinks I still need a warning telling me I am injuring myself.

Now a neurologist has suggested the anesthesiologist needs to "burn" the nerve to stop the message. I tried calling the anesthesiologist's office for some information, but of course they are off skiing in Aspen or drinking an umbrella drink in Hawaii. It would be great if I knew more to help you figure this out. But I don't. Thanks for your interest!

Please give more details. What nerve is injured (location)? What did the doctor say he was going to do. Did he give a name to the condition? These answers will make searching for an appropriate anser easier.
