Newbie who needs google key words help?

Hi, I've been working on my site for 3 months and its a pr 4. Still I have very few hits per day. I recently learned about keyword optimization and found out I have used the worst possible keyword that no one searches for :P

So now I need to revamp my web page so I can actually rank on google. Please tell me which of these choices would be best for me. Remember I'm a pr 4.

a) search term one - 60,500 hits per week

page one Pr's in order 5, 3, 5, 2, 4, 3, 4, 2, 4, 5

as you can see there are a couple 2's and 3's in this list so I thought with proper site optimization I might make page 1

b) search term 2 - 5,400 hits per week

page 1 Pr's in order 2, 1, 3, 3, 2, 3, 3, 1, 7(but not really its a way inner page and not a competitor), and 0

choice 1 has way more searches per week and I might make page 1

choice 2 has way fewer searches but I might be first on page 1

What would net me the most hits for my web page?

Thanks for your help :D

Update:

those are us hits per week not global

Your site is PR 4 which is really good - especially for a new site. There are a lot of factors that go into SERPs so don't think high PR is everything. Make sure you have quality links from relevant sites that are linking to your domain (and interior pages) because it isn't about traffic it's about the right kind of traffic.

In terms of your keywords there isn't a reason that you can't go after both. If you try keyword stuffing your content it will look unnatural and hurt you anyway. If you have multiple pages on your site then optimize an internal page for search term 2.

When trying to show up in Google you aren't judged by, "who has the highest page rank" it is more of a "who answers this search query the best." Have good content, links with good anchor text to your keywords and improve your site with your audience in mind and not the search engines.
