The 2005 Georgia Bulldogs were the last SEC Champion to lose a bowl game. Georgia lost to West Viriginia 38-35, in the 2005/2006 Sugar Bowl. Ironically, this is also the last time an SEC Champion did not win the National Championship.

The Georgia Bulldogs (10-3) ranked #8 were the last SEC champion to lose a bowl game.. The game was played on January 1st, 2006, so it was the 2006 Sugar Bowl, and they lost to West Virginia, the Big East champion (11-1) led by Rich Rodriquez 38-35....
