Teachers! I need ideas please!?

I am trying to teach fractions with middle schoolers. I want to do something hands on with my students. I need something that I can give over two hundred kids at least 4 of. They need to be identical size and can be cut with plastic knives. It also needs to be as cheap as possible because I can't afford a lot. Any ideas? Thanks!

Update:

I also need it to not be messy. Thanks!

Try explaining fractions using a sheet of paper. It needs to be a 'practical' size. Develop a board presentation to go along with your demonstration. Explain that the idea of fractions is arbitrary. You could use a page of news paper. Divide your class into groups of four. Give each group a whole page. Write the number 1 on the board. Tell them that that one is to be the 'numerator'. Divide your demo sheet in half. Demand the students to be exact and do the same. "How many parts do you have?" Draw a line under the number 1 on your board then write 2 under it. Have each student write that fraction. Have each student say, "Whole, numerator, and denominator." Lots of fun...Divide one of your halves into halves...what now...you can keep this up for an hour....

You can deal with fractional parts of a set just as well as one solid or plane shape. Try paper clips. You might get them got free from the office. 12 per student is ideal for halves, thirds, and fourths.

200 students X 12 per = 2400 paperclips. They can come 600 or even 1000 in a box. So a few boxes would do it. No plastic knives to buy, no messy or drippy food to clean up.

Why no longer have a appear on the e-book 'The Little Vampire'? It was once very widespread while I was once a child. I cannot recall the creator sorry. I advocate you choose out passages from it and ask the scholars to spot the nouns and adjectives that relate to vampires and they might discover priceless for his or her initiatives. This may be a priceless rhyme I was once taught in predominant tuition: Nouns are simply the names of matters like ice and birds and snow and earrings. and likewise: Adjectives are describing phrases so adjectIVEs are phrases that gIVE an outline to a noun.
