Geezzz, where are all these noble skeptical scientists coming from ? Anyway, there is never an " absence " of any planet, everyone is born with a natal chart, with a full number of planets like everybody else. A natal chart is like a transit chart frozen in time. But everyone is also born with different rising sign, different plantary placements, house placements, aspects , and this is where the interesting part and complicated art of astrology come from. Imagine life is a big screen full of colors , so is astrology and what an aspect in a chart can indicate, several shades of grays....or green...whatever your favourite color is. First, I would like to say, the same thing like I said above, an absence of a planet in a house does not mean matters of that house does not exist. We have 10 major planetary bodies, and 12 house, so, it is natural to have a house or 2 empty, some people have upwards to 7 or 8 houses empty, that does not mean that are a turnip with no love, no job, and only family and sex. Moon aspect to Saturn, particularly the hard aspect of conjunction, square and opposition , normally indicate a rather sober and strict childhood upbringing , the mother ( or the caretaker , the nurturer of the family - which could be the father ) figure usually does not show a lot of love and affection, or perhaps always appear busy and doing several things , the child will perceive this as cold, unapproachable, inaccessible mother and feel that his needs as a child is not met, this is called conditional love. The aspect can also pop up in a chart of " physically absent " mother figure in one's life, but it does not guarantee this. This aspect is not all bad, it can also indicate a shrewd nature, someone who is responsible to his/her own emotions, conservative and prefers stable and long-lasting emotional life. How an aspect turns out , for or against, will depend on the individual's upbringing, environment, and his/her own will. Just because one is handed a second-hand and rusty set of tools does not mean that he can not do his/her job well. Equally, one can be handed everything on a silver plate and still manage to screw everything up. Anyway, there are some planets in the 4th that might indicate the absence of a parental figure, I normally associate the 4th with the father , some associate it with the mother since they associate the Moon with the 4th house, it can be both since the 4th house speaks of the nurturing figure which can be either sex. Neptune in the 4th can indicate an absence of a parent, this planet is foggy to say the least, and the parent maybe there, but is inaccessible in some strange way. Uranus in the 4th can also indicate the same thing, among other possible intepretations. Personally I have Neptune conjunct IC, I had both parents, and grew up with both of them , but I was never close to my father. He was somewhat absent in my life , he was always busy working, he was physically there but somewhat mentally and emotionally absent. I now think he found it hard to open up a conversation to his kids, he still does ( hows that for Neptune in capricorn influence ) so I learnt most things from my mom, and yes, my mom was the major influence in my life ( signified by Sun/Mars/Ceres conjunction in 10th ).

Aspects with Mercury or Saturn in the 5th house for the first child, second child in the 7th house and 3 and up in the 9th house. I have only started doing the
predictive astrology so I don't know enough about synastry between two natal charts (the couple) and transits and how those effect likelihood of children or number of children but
I know a majority of predicting births of children lie in how certain planets in transit with the planets that rule the 5th, 7th and 9th houses so alot of the information
required to predict children is not in your natal charts.

There aren't any indicators of when you will or will not have children. Your 5th house can show general attitudes towards children, but that's where it ends.
When you're moon progresses into the 5H this can be an indication of when you will have a child. SR chart ruler in the 5H, Pluto in the 5H, Saturn in the 5H, Moon in the 5H, etc etc.
But these positions can also show a more creative, self expressive, romantic year as well. 5H is not all about kids.
I only have very basic knowledge on this part on astrology.
