What are some good restaurants in Midtown Manhattan?

I used to live in NY but haven't been there in years. I'm spending a weekend with my boyfriend and want to show him the best of the city- not touristy, the great places. I did get tickets for a broadway show so we'll be near Times Square/Midtown....what would be a great dinner for before or after the show or a place for dessert and drinks after the show that is not a chain restaurant? Don't want anything too pricey or overly casual. A nice date place. And, anything in particular worth seeing or doing the next day? Thanks for your input!

Without a doubt it would be Carmines in the theater district. This is a family style serving restaurant which means you better go hungry as the portions are huge. Its a colorful and busy place that just adds to the ambiance . Another good place on the smaller side is Ovest Pizzateca in Hells Kitchen area. We had the neopolitan pizza and it was the best pizza we had ever had. Happy eating !
