MTG question, Trample.?
If damage from a trample creature to another creature is prevented, is it still assigned to that creature? For example: if Terra Stomper (8/8 trample) is blocked by guard gomazoa (1/3 flying, prevent all damage that would be dealt to guard gomazoa) does the 5 remaining trample still go through? or is trample nullified because terra stomper is unable to assign lethal damage to guard gomazoa?

Lethal damage is equal to a creature's toughness unless the the damaging creature has deathtouch (in which case lethal damage is always 1). Even though the damage is prevented, you only need to assign 3 damage to Guard Gomazoa and thus can assign 5 damage to the opposing player.

Actually you are incorrect about a small point, the gomazoa prevents all battle damage.
But on your question, when the attacker chooses damage, he can choose to let five damage roll over or deal all damage to the gomazoa and that would keep any damage from getting through. But any sane person would deal the three damage and let the five extra roll through.
