I spilled beer on my camera, now lens is stuck... What do?

Update:

Throw it away? Well I'll be damned. If the world had that mentality then... Oh wait it does and look at how well the world is doing. Hopefully in the near future, a disposable life will be a thing of the past. People throw so many things that can be easily fixed away. btw this toy is a canon powershot A490.

    It is true that if you get it repaired it will cost anywhere from 100.00 to 150.00. I have the A570is and when I bought it, it was only 250.00. That was a few years ago. You could take it to a camera shop for a cleaning. Beer is kind of sticky and could be the only thing wrong, but you might have some inside damage too.

    Trash and replace. If, as I suspect it's a small pocket toy, you've only one choice - it's now a paperweight.

    Next time, get a waterproof camera. I suspect it will be beer proof as well.
