Is it ok to get another rabbit after one dies?

My rabbit died from torticollis on the 27 of December 2011 after having her for 3 years. I'm still very upset about it but I feel like once i'm less heartbroken, i might want another bunny. I wouldn't get one for a while, but is it wrong to want another bunny after losing my baby? thanks everyone <3

I have never believed in the old myth that you have to wait to get over the death of one pet before getting another. I generally get a pet immediately after one has passed so that I can focus on the new one instead of wallowing over the old. My dead pets have never complained, so I figure they don't mind. Don't get me wrong, I love my pets, and treasure their memories, but I do not think I honor them by being miserable. Why would anyone who loves another wish misery on them? Seeing that I also get my pets from the local animal shelter, I figure the good just keeps going around. I honor them by saving another's life and heal with the new friend I have just aquired. There are tons of bunnies that need homes and are often destroyed since no one thinks to save them.

As long as the torticollis wasn't caused by any viral or bactierial infections of the spinal column, you should be fine. Just wash your bunny's things with bleach (remember to rinse well!) before you set up for the next.

I'm so sorry to hear about your rabbit.

I definitely know how you're feeling. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to get another bunny but I do think you should wait a little while so that you can accept and move on from her passing. When you feel healed then it may be a good time to get another bunny. I know it's hard losing your little companion as you have so many fun memories with her. I'm sure she'll understand that you're not replacing her, rather just making a new friend.

dont get a guinea pig rabbits tend to bully g.pigs, so it does not be properly worth getting a g.pig and looking out out your rabbit possibilities on it and it extremely is been everyday for rabbits to reason some harm to them purely kicking around as they do, terrific guess to get yet another 2year previous spayed woman rabbit and introduce the slowly have the recent rabbit on your previous rabbits hutch with the previous one out and the recent one in there so the recent heady scent of the rabbit is in its environment (for an hour or so), according to danger placed a hutch opposite, so as that they are in a position to work out and scent one yet another, or placed them in a run at the same time the place you could actually eliminate considered one of them if issues are going so properly

i know exactly how you feel. , there is nothing wrong with getting another bunny but you know at some point that one is going to die too..its so hard to see them pass away. if your up for another one to ave then go right ahead. i decided not to get another one after mine passed away because i didn't want to go through the pain of having an animal pass away again. and i am so sorry about your rabbit :(
