Is the Patriot Act the modern day Maginot Line?

Like the Maginot Line, is it set up to deal with a threat from the past, while ignoring current and future threats.

    It's an interesting comment, however, the Patriots Act is much more seriously impacting the whole US society. It is an easy and corrupt excuse by the government to control its citizens like in a totalitarian regime.

    Because he can do no wrong in their eyes. I didn't like it when Bush did it and I particularly didn't like it when a Democrat that I voted for expanded it. Objectivity is so rare these days.

    If a President ended the Patriot Act and the terrorists were able to strike us, it would be the end of his political career.
