Does Anyone Have An AMAZING Recipe For Chili?

Ever since I've had a bowl of chili at the town fair, I've been craving it and thinking about it ever since. I love the kind of chili that's not too spicy, but gives you a good kick and a subtle burn. I like chili with the usual beans and beef, not vegan or turkey or pork. If any of you have a chili recipe that you absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE and have been using for years, and has been proven to be absolutely DELICIOUS then please tell me!!! There's nothing more I love than a good read and a comforting bowl of spicy chili!!! If there are some other recipes that you think may be good or you've tested once or twice before and you think is good, then please share!! I will be open to any recipes!!!

But, I would like to know those family favorites, because I can't wait to try them!!!

Chili is AWESOME!!! Please share any recipes!!!

Thank You So Much!!! I'm going chili-ingredient shopping tomorrow!! haha :)

    Ingredients:

    2 1/2 lb. ground beef

    4 garlic cloves, finely chopped

    1 cup finely chopped onion

    8 oz. hunt's tomato sauce

    1 cup water

    1 can beer (12 oz.)

    3 Tablespoons chili powder

2 Tablespoons instant beef bouillon (or 6 cubes)

    2 Tablespoons cumin, ground

    2 teaspoons paprika

    2 teaspoons oregano leaves

    2 teaspoons sugar

    1/2 teaspoon coriander, ground

    1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa

1/2 teaspoon Louisiana hot sauce (optional...but gives the kick)

    1 teaspoon cornmeal

    1 teaspoon flour

    1 teaspoon warm water

    Directions:

    1. In a large saucepan brown 1 1/4 pounds of the ground meat (the beef and the pork), drain the fat.

    2. Remove meat (the beef) . Brown the rest of the ground beef, drain all but 2 tablespoons of the fat.

    3. Add the garlic and onion, cook and stir until tender.

    4. Add the other half of the meat and the tomato sauce, water, beer, chili powder, bouillon, cumin, paprika, oregano, sugar, coriander, cocoa, and hot sauce. Mix well.

    5. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer, covered , for 2 hours.

    6. In a small bowl, stir together the cornmeal and flour, then add the warm water and mix well.

    7. Stir into chili and cook, covered, for an additional 20 minutes.

I have no recipes but if you want real good chili then get Chili Man with beans and LEAN meat. It is in a can and has won many chili championships. It is good with a plate full of spaghetti noodles or shell noodles. I used to cook my own chili but could never make it like chili man chili. Try a can, it is in most stores in the U.S. and make sure you get the lean meat. If you make chili at home then buy the best (lean) ground beef and use Brooks chili beans with onions and chili powder. Good luck in your search for the best chili recipes.

My self and all my family and friends love this one.

2008 Terlingua International Chili Championship winner.

    ------------------ susan's chili powder blend; ---------

7.5 tablespoon San Antonio Original Chili Powder available in San Antonio or on http://www.mildbills.com/p-40-rt-original-chili-pe...

5 tablespoon TB Mexene CHili Powder available on Amazon

    5 lb beef; coarse ground

    ------------------ the first simmer; ---------

2.5 14.5oz can swanson beef stock

2.5 8 oz can hunts no-salt tomato sauce

    2.5 cube knorr beef bullion

    2.5 cube knorr chicken bullion

    7.5 tablespoon susans chili powder

    2.5 tablespoon granulated onion

    2.5 tablespoon paprika

    2.5 package sazon goya

    ------------------ the second simmer; ---------

5 tablespoon susan's chili poseder blend

    2.5 teaspoon granulated garlic

    2.5 tablespoon cumin

Step 1 - Combine 3 TB San Antonio Original Chili Power and 2 TB Mexene Chili Powder to create Susan’s chili powder blend.

Step 2 – Brown 2 pounds of coarse-ground beef. Cover with liquid and boil for 20 minutes.

Step 3 – Add the following and simmer for one hour One can 14 ½ Swanson beef broth 1 - 8 oz can Hunt’s no-salt tomato sauce 1 cube Knorr’s beef bullion 1 cube Knorr’s chicken bullion 3 TB Susan’s chili powder blend 1 TB granulated onion 1 TB paprika 1 pk Sazon Goya

Step 4 – Add the following and simmer for thirty minutes 2 TB Susan’s chili powder blend 1 tsp granulated garlic 1 TB cumin

Step 5 – Adjust heat with Louisiana “Original” Hot Sauce

If you can't find the original San Antonio chili powder there is one almost as good on Amazon.

One thing I do not in the recipe is to mince up bacon and put that in the pot first cook it until it is just done and then you can remove it or I leave it in and then build on that.

This is a little work but it is worth it. If it won in Terlingua it won't be bad I assure you.

FYI I live in Dallas and use to live in San Antonio and they are the true origins of Chili I the United states. My Step Dad was a friend of Carol Shelby the designer of the MUSTANG and one of the 3 Founding fathers of the Terlingua Chili Cook off. Before it got organized it was just an excuse to drink etc.... Carol Shelby is on his second liver.
