Why is it when you try to help people they take advantage of it?

Family can be the absolute worst. I am abhorred at the stories I've heard from people and how selfish, cruel, and mean some families can be to their members. I've had so many tell me that they wish they didn't have family, just friends.

Not to be religious here, but I'm reminded of the story where Jesus healed the 10 lepers? Yeah, nine out of ten didn't even thank him, and they were not relatives.

You know that saying, "Don't feed the animals?" Don't feed the humans, cause they'll come back for seconds over and over without even a thank you, or kiss my ***.

Then there are the ones you help and you really don't care, your motive for helping is totally not hinged on getting anything in return. Plus, there are the ones you help and they are genuinely grateful, tell you so, and may even love you for it into teeny little pieces.

My most rewarding experiences was when three guys came to tell me that talking to them made them change their minds about committing suicide, and I didn't even know it until they told me.

It is hard to be helpful and keep an ego motive out of the way. An ego motive is when you have some vested interest in the outcome of what you are doing to help.

    Hang in there, bud...

    People are generally lazy.

Good help is hard to find these days.

Once they do find someone who is willing to help out, they will make the most of it, without a second thought.

Dude, it's your family. And maybe your fiends - erm, make that friends. Don't let them do this.
