Why didnt donald Cerrone finish diaz?

First, I just want to say that I dont agree that diaz wont that fight despite that face did land more power punches leaving donald a mess. I felt cerrone had controlled of the fight. I lost count how many times he could have ended the fight when he have taken diaz down. He was just letting diaz back up. Was he afraid to go to the ground with him or what? What happened? I dont understand Why didnt he finish him?

nate with his long limbs and superior BJJ would be a huge threat on the ground. basically don should have gambled with it since he was way behind in the scorecards. not to mention being in the receiving end of nates punches

should have gone for broke, stupid don

First off he did not take Diaz down but instead kicked his leg out from under him which is not quite the same thing as a take down especially if you don't follow up which he didn't either. The number of hard punches he took directly to the face and the evident damage that Diaz did to Cerrone is what won that fight and while Cerrone had his moments they were way fewer and less than what Diaz had.

I will agree with the vein in which your question is asked if its that Cerrone did not fight a very smart fight. He just continued to walk straight in eating hard shots using no head movement or angles and no fakes or feints and very few jabs. When a guy with a three inch reach is picking you apart like that you can not just continue to move straight in and eat shots and expect to win the round unless you do more damage to him than he does to you once inside. Time and again Cerrone only got halfway there and almost never landed a counter, a combination, or hard shot afterwords.

Zak Z has it right again. Diaz is known to pull off some amazing submissions, many while flipping off the crowd. Check his highlight reel. Cerrone was wise for not going to the ground. I just think it's messed up the judges don't score Sweeps the same as take downs. It would have been a lot closer if they did. He was sweeping Diaz all fight long!

    Great Fight.
