Lots of people do that. It's never easy being the one to end a relationship. People always think you have to do it in person, but who has the guts to really hurt someone that way either? Just be glad she's being honest with you instead of you having to find out that she's cheating on you or ignoring you. Move on...

I have found in my past it wasn't what i said because whether it was a nice speech or harsh words the girl felt terrible.

it was more how i did it. I once broke it off by email and it sucked for her and she hated me.

so never avoid face to face, be direct, dont do it by text email or avoid the person altogether!

yes that's pretty bad, but think it could be worse. She could have a friend do it or she could just avoid you till you get the hint and never get any type of closure.
