Alpaca people only....?

I'm really interested in getting an alpaca.

I have do tons of research and i know that alpacas are herd animals so they need some other alpaca friends. But the trouble is i really just want 1 alpaca, so i was wondering what other animal would make a good companion for an alpaca, or will the alpaca be fine on it own for a while until i get it a friend?

    I really don't know much about the South American beasts. But my best guess as for a companion would be a goat. They seem to be a lot alike. I have been to Bolivia and been around Llama, Alpaca and Vicuna and they were a lot like the goats I have had.
