First time tax filer?
I made under $5000 this past year and am claimed as a dependent. Should I file a tax return for a refund? Or what do I do. This is my first year with a job (its part time) so I am clueless.
EDIT: I claim single and no dependents (not sure if that matters).
What does income tax withheld mean? Does that mean they took income tax from my paycheck?

By all means, FILE AWAY!!! Even if your refund is a paltry amount, you should still file. If you are ever audited (it happens randomly a lot) it's nice to be able to put all of your records in front of the auditor, it looks really good on you if you filed every year you worked even if you didn't owe.
Good luck to you!

When you get your W-2, look at box 2. If it's blank or zero, no reason to file. If it's a non-zero number, you can get that amount back if you file. Box 2 is the amount they withheld (took out of your paychecks) for federal income tax.

if you had income tax withheld, yes, you would want to file to get that refunded to you
