Can i keep a 8 inch pleco in a 20 gallon long for a few months?
I am wondering if i can keep a 8 inch common pleco in a 20 gallon long with a baby pastel red eared slider and some comet goldfish for a little while (a few months) until i get my 100 gallon setup? Thanks

That's pushing things, depending on how big the goldfish and turtle are.
The pleco alone could survive OK as long as had good filtering and water changes. Not ideal, but it would survive. But if the goldfish have any size to them then you will have too much bioload
If you have have the big tank and are just needing to cycle it, I would throw the goldfish in there. A few small comets in 100gal is hardly anything and it will quietly cycle in a month or so.

... Technically you can, but it'll be cruel. If you have another, larger, tank to set up, do that. I don't think it's a good idea to have all the goldfish in there either, and depends also on their size.
If you do go through with it, make sure you're doing regular water changes, keep the filtration up and aeration up, and keep an EYE on your animals for any signs/changes in behaviour as well as ammonia/nitrate/nitrite levels as they can get rather high very quickly in a tank as small as that, particularly with a pleco of that size.
Keep in mind that plecos can grow rather fast and the last thing you want is for it's growth to get stunted. Mine has been doubling in length every month-two months now (granted, it is a bit smaller than yours at 6 inch).
