We learned in the election of '08 that the US hasn't built a refinery in 35 years. Now they want a pipeline?
A pipeline all the way from Canada to the Gulf coast? Really? But, we don't have enough refineries to deal with a million extra barrels of crude a day because of those danged environmentalists. Or, could it be that someone...(certain right wing radio dummies) lied to their ditto head listeners about this issue? Could such a thing be? Then there's the issue of the exportation of all this refined crude pouring out of all those refineries 'we don't have'. Wasn't the plan to 'lower gas prices'? Now the plan is different. I wonder what those GOP/Tea/Fox/Jesus freak party guys will say about this in the next debate.

Sakura must be off his meds. It is crude oil soaked in sand going through that pipeline, not natural gas. And, it is not going to refineries here in Texas, it is going to ships to be shipped off shore.
Mary gets two hips and a big hurray for being so, so right. And, that move actually would produce many thousands of jobs and fewer deaths of America's youth in the wars for oil.
LORDGODG is the one who should consider his source. Give the address of one new refinery and the year it was built and by whom it was built.

As a Canadian and an Albertan I find your question, not only interesting but very important to both countries futures.
Let me say firstly that not only will this pipeline not be used for natural gas, but that the bitumen that it will be used for will take far more refining than conventional crude oil. Until a few years ago this was called the tar sands. These oil sands are in fact are one of the largest oil discoveries in the world and because Texas has the refineries now, and the US needs the oil, the pipeline will eventually happen. It is interesting that by refining the bitumen in Texas the carbon footprint will be the US,s problem.
It will in fact create and keep jobs in the US. It will mean that the US has a secure supply and not have to support an enemy or terrorist country. It will also mean a even more closely tied Canadian, American economy.
Having said that,it will also commit the US to refining a far more carbon intense oil.It will insure wealth to the few and be a future threat to the environment where ever the pipe is laid. It should be noted that until now we,ve been averaging about 2 pipeline breaks a day world wide. The deeper we tie ourselves to these mega projects the slower we will be to look at the alternatives.

via fact the huge oil companies refuse to desirable look after the present ones, so as that they maypersistent expenditures up and shop expenditures down. This loss of maintainence have been given 8 workers killed at a BP refinery in Texasville. BP paid nicely over 32 million funds to settle the case so as that they does not might desire to admit it in court docket.

Many refinery's have expanded instead of building new.Of course if government did not mandate 50 different blends of gas it would be cheaper.

If that's what YOU "learned" in the election of '08, then perhaps you need your gullibility trimmed a little...it wasn't true then, and it (obviously) STILL isn't true, however much you want to believe it!

Giuliani was (as Republicans often do!) "creating his own version of the truth" rather than using actual FACTS...

Stop using oil a fossil fuel. They pollute, we have wars to get the oil. It's so unnecessary. Use alternative energy. It's clean cheap and plentiful

It is not crude that would go through keystone pipeline, it is natural gas which does not need refining.
