Will Arab & Western states succeed in confronting Russia over its refusal to condemn the Syrian government?

for its violent suppression of popular protests?

“The Russian policy is not about asking someone to step down; regime change is not our profession,” Sergey V. Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation during a stop on a tour of Asia.

Even in the West and among Arab League members, there is no support for the kind of foreign military intervention that occurred in Libya, because of concerns that an implosion of Syria could spread beyond its borders, dragging neighbors, like Israel, Iraq and Lebanon, into a wider conflagration.

A valid concern.

So what is the incentive for Russia to change their attitude and Assad to stop what he is doing?

I think the CIA and the State Department and Mossad have started enough wars in the Middle East.

I don't Believe They'll Have too. Unless the Russians don't mind being the " LAST Country Standing " Up for the Assad Regime after everyone ELSE has Condemned it, -I think it will eventually "cave in" to "abstention status" on the Subject- & Syria will be completely without Support from Anyone- anywhere.

Doubt very much the arabs will do so. Regarding U.S. they don't need Russia's permission or approval.
