How much does it cost to lease a horse?
Okay i have been taking lessons for around 5 years. I love horses and mum and dad have said it i okay if i buy or lease a horse since buying is out of the question, i was wondering how much on average does it cost a week to lease a horse in Queensland Australia. And where i should look. I want a good horse that will be cheap to lease but also teach me new skills. Thanks for all your help!

If you have had five years of lessons and ride well you should look around for a private owner who needs a bit of help around the barn and their horses exercised.
They are out there in droves but are tough to find. Try tack shops feed stores or an ad tacked on message boards. You may have to start with mucking out stalls until the people have confidence in you but you will learn a lot and may end up in a really great situation even helping show their horses and such. I know of more than one friend who went this route successfully.

I am in the USA, so might not be the best to answer your question. But here, if you were to post notices that you were willing to help support the horse in exchange for riding privileges, you would be inundated with replies. The economy has taken a tough toll on horse owners.

Dont lease a horse. 'Buy' it. That is is quotes because if you go to a slaughter house they will sell you a decent horse for like $50. Really fifty bucks that's it :)
Good luck :)

I am unsure of what the cost is in Australia, but in Washington, America it ranges from $150-$350 per month. it ranges based on how much you get to work/ride the horse, the horses skill, how well the horse behaves, etc.
Good luck!
