The proposed Jobs Bill. How does it work?

The right wing radio dummies say that tax money will be given to government workers to build roads etc. No kiddin'....and people believe this because they trust these people. In real life government contracts are issued to qualifying private companies and on the basis of these contracts private banks will issue credit so these private companies can hire workers, contract with suppliers and begin various infrastructure projects. The payrolls generated by these private contractors AND the private suppliers of material begin to generate effective demand...that is people have cash to buy stuff! All of this cash becomes salaries, profits, investment, savings and finally tax increment. ALL of these dollars originally lent by private banks, cash that is now dead capital, is spent seven to ten times generating economic activity throughout the entire economy. This is no different from the JOBS Bill that keeps our defense contractors alive. The big question is why is the GOP/Tea/Fox/Jesus party against this? Do they want this recession to continue or do they listen to way too much right wing radio?

There is no one simple correct answer here, and both you and the 'right wing radio dummies' are partly right, and partly wrong: it just isn't that easy.

The SHORT answer though is that there are a vocal minority of people on the right and left in the USA today who are so 'anti' something that they are willing to sabotage the system to prove their point. For every GOP wacko who says we need to get rid of Obama at all costs and will mess up the economic recovery to make him look bad, there is a Democratic wacko who tries to pin the blame on Bush and pretend the Dems had nothing to do with the mess we're in.

Get the picture? Yes, infrastructure contracts do provide money for private companies to hire people etc, and yes, we need to stop spending "government" money we don't have for things we don't need. But until we stop demonizing each other and start working together to do the right thing (which sometimes involves short-term pain for long term gain) and TEACH OUR CHILDREN to not get back into this situation, we're not going to fix this.

No kiddin'! Stop looking for a magic bullet and remove the beam from your own eye first, then worry about the mote in your neighbors' eyes.

the Obama 'jobs bill' is racist and should be voted down by both parties.

The plain purpose of the Davis-Bacon Act, which the bill is not exempt from, is to prevent low skill workers [majority Black] from getting government paid highway and infrastructure jobs.

thus, the point of the jobs bill is to reward union workers and hope that trickle down economics works from them to the rest of us.

didn't work with the 2009 bill, so i can't see why it would now
