Shouldn't there have been more investigation into the father who was the 'main suspect' in this case?

After the mother's death, the husband and father of two children, kept after the courts to give him custody of them. He was awarded supervised visits. The man who was father to two young children, killed their mother while they were all together on a camping trip. They remembered what the father had done and when they got older, they told people what they had witnessed. They stated, "Mom was there with us, then she was in the trunk, and after that she disappeared." After the social worker came with the children, the father closed the door in her face instead of letting her accompany them for their visit. The social worker said she smelled the prevailing smell of 'gas.' Then the house exploded, which resulted in the murder of the two children and himself.

Yes there should have been more of an investigation. I believe everyone knew he killed his wife, by his lies, which he couldn't do very well. Saying he took the children camping in a snow blizzard.. and when he returned the wife was gone. Who would actually take their children on a camping trip in a snow storm? That was his alibi. He didn't seem upset at all that his wife came up missing. ..Now..after he killed his children and himself..the police say ''he probably killed his wife'' Those children should have never been allowed around a potential murderer, even though it was their father. He should have killed himself and spared the children's lives, if he really loved them he would have. It seems that the courts could have at least, kept the children away from him..now it's too late. http://www.12newsnow.com/story/16683168/man-kills-...

Edit: On top of all this, he was arrested for ''child pornography'' not long ago.

The children now have lost their lives. I personally would have kept the children with the other relatives until the father had passed those psychological tests, including that most important polygraph test. This I feel might just have saved those innocent children.
