It seems like Islam is all about accentuating and punishing even the slightest sin like bad thoughts about why Allah never seems to answer muslims` prayers . I don`t have an answer for my friend. Somebody help. He thinks he`s hell-bound!

It is all about punishment, Christians view God as a father, Muslims view him as a merciless master

Islam is not about being punished for little sins its about being a good person and following the sunnah correctly and also about repenting for your sins so that you may have a blissful after life. If you commit sins and do wrong here on earth then obviously you will be punished for it but if you do good you will be rewarded in ways unimaginable. Tell your friend hes not hell-bound if he does good

Tell him if there truly was no hope for him, Allah would have given him death already because there wouldn't really be a purpose of keeping him alive. Allah is theho most merciful and most kind. There is always hope for his forgiveness.

Your friend has perhaps not read holy Quran and hadiths. Allah has

declared that He is Very Kind and Forgiving and He pardons all sins

on repentance. And in fact He is very Happy on those who repent.

But obviously it takes some time to see how sincere he is and then

everything comes through system which also requires time. To think

as soon as one repents he will be rewarded immediately is childish.

quran says about heaven as well as hell...but ALlah(swt) als o tell ' what does Allah gets punishing humans"

Allah says allah is free from desires

so it is like this suppose u went to degree college and they say if u gets 40% marks in all subjects you will get the certificate...and they are silent about what if you gets only 39% marks in exams....results came and you got only 30% and college tellls that you need to write the exam again...........so naturally the question comes why didnt they inform me if i gets less than 40% i have to write the exam again

like Allah says about heaven and hell...the choice is our to obey him or not to obey

and Allah (swt) is most merciful

"Say: - O my servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

"Turn ye to your Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (will), before the penalty comes on you - after that ye shall not be helped.""And follow the best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord, before the penalty comes on you - of a sudden, while ye perceive not!" [ 39:53-55]

.in this world from a young age we are taught that there are consequences for our actions...these laws have been made by Allah swt

your friend is mistaken to think it is about 'punishment' ....in fact it is all about expiating our sins so we go sinless from this world and straight to Jannah. here are a series of hadith and Quran ayahs which will help understand inshaAllah

The believing man or woman continues to have affliction in person, property and children so that they may finally meet Allah, free from sin. (Tirmidhi)

No affliction great or small afflicts a man but for a sin, but there are more which Allah forgives. (Tirmidhi)

No calamity befalls a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even though it were the prick he receives from a thorn. (Bukhari)

Whatever misfortune happens to you is because of the things your hands have wrought and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness. (42:30)

Ye shall certainly be tried and tested in your possessions and in your personal selves. (3:186)

Do men think that they will be left alone on saying “We believe” and that they will not be tested? (29:2)

Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil); but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere. (2:155)

No Muslim is afflicted with harm because of sickness or some other inconvenience, but that Allah will remove his sins for him as a tree sheds its leaves. (Bukhari)

The magnitude of the reward goes along with the magnitude of the affliction. (Tirmidhi)

When Allah who is Great and Glorious loves people He afflicts them [with trials]. (Tirmidhi)

Anyone for whom Allah intends good, He makes him suffer from some affliction. (Bukhari)

When Allah intends good for His slave, He punishes him in this world, but when He intends an evil for His slave, He does not hasten to take him to task but calls him to account on the Day of Resurrection. (Tirmidhi)

The prophets, then those who come next to them, then those who come next to them. A man is afflicted in keeping his religion. If he is firm in his religion his trial is severe, but if there is weakness in his religion it is made light for him, and it continues like that till he walks on the earth having no sin. (Tirmidhi)

Do men think that they will be left alone on saying “We believe” and that they will not be tested? We did test those before them and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false. (29:2-3)

REMEMBER: there is no limit to Allah's mercy- if we turn to Him wiht sincere repentence then we will be forgiven inshaAllah:

the Prophet said that Allah swt said:

A servant [of Allah's] committed a sin and said: O Allah, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for sins. Do what you wish, for I have forgiven you.

May Allah forgive all our sins
