Changing the Firefox URL box behavior?
I have upgraded from an old version of Firefox. I used to be able to type a URL without a prefix or suffix and it would automatically enter .com and go to the page. Now it goes to a Google search result.
For example in the old version if I typed "Ford" it would automatically load Ford.com.
Now if I type 'Ford' it takes me to a Google results page. The first result will be Ford, but this means that I have extra steps to get where I am going and that Google gets to track every URL I type in that way.
Please, this is driving me nuts. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for the help but this doesn't seem to do what the old version did. I changed browser.url.autofill set to true and if I open a new window and type 'Maserati' and hit enter instead of loading Maserati.com it goes to Google and presents me with a search result page.
I have restarted Firefox after I made the change and checked to see that the status was still set to true and it is.

1. Open Firefox.
2. Go to the address bar and input about:config.
3. Click through the warning window.
4. Locate browser.urlbar.autoFill and double-click it so that the value changes to true.
5. Restart Firefox.

With the recent variations of Firefox, you're able to get admission to seek ideas by utilising: a million) click on the MENU icon (appears like 3 horizontal traces) which could be placed on the main excellent side of your bookmarks toolbar. 2) elect ideas 3) elect seek from the menu on the left 4) under the Default seek Engine dropdown selector, choose Google.
