Does removing the cat void a car's warrranty?

I bought a new car almost a year ago and I am about the put in a new exhaust, with a catless midpipe. I understand that removing the cat is illegal but I highly doubt the cops around here would notice or car. So would doing this void the warranty? Could I still service the car at the dealer? Thanks.

This is C R A Z Y to say the least. All newer cars have very refined exhaust and converter systems that IMPROVE mileage and power. Removing it is only going to COST you in economy, and power both!!! Cars from the 80's were different. Those engines would breath better. The good thing about government retgulataions on cars is that the car companies had to do or die, meaning that they had to make bettee economy and better power or fall to the wayside. THe ONLY thing for you to do is to think about using BORLA exhaust, which is aircraft quality atainless steel. It still is not much improvement over factory designs. WHY would you want to DESTROY years of testing and advancements by ruinng your car and cheapengin it's value???? THis is great if you buying a 1978 old Chevy oil burner!

yes, it will void the warranty. the only person who will perform this type of repair will have to be you, because any shop cannot remove the cat, it is against the law and they can be heavily fined. Why don't you simply install a legal high flowing performance cat/ It is sold at any or most speed shops.

You are naive aren't you. Voiding the "warrranty" will be the least of your problems.
