Thinking of becoming an elementary school/special ed teacher?

I'm starting to think about what I want to do when I"m older (I'm a sophomore in high school now) and I'm thinking of becoming an elementary school teacher or a special ed teacher. What would either entail both class wise and emotionally? I babysit a lot and am a counselor at camps usually for kids under fourth grade. I really enjoy doing things with kids and more creative things. The only thing is I have ADHD so would that be a problem with keeping control of a class? Thank you!

It sounds like you're managing the ADHD now if people trust you to babysit and work at camps. You have a lot of growing to do, both physically and mentally, so I wouldn't worry about the ADHD until it becomes a real problem. Then you can see a professional about medication or some other way to manage it. You might make a very good special ed teacher because you'll be able to relate to the kids with ADHD and share strategies with them.

I don't see why it would. Teachers can have a wide range or strengths, weaknesses, abilities and patience... it would be boring if they were all the same. Just be yourself and do your best and the children will respect you. Teaching can be difficult and trying but at the same time very, very rewarding
