How to get from skinny to ripped?

To sum things up, I am 132 lbs and 5' 10" I am really skinny and I have a high metabolism. I want to build lean muscle. Not like those over-bulky guys. I have looked into pretty much everything, P90X, Insanity, and other programs. I am just completely lost, everyone seems to have a different opinion. How can I be 170 pounds with lean muscle? How many calories should I heat? What kind of exercise program should I follow? What can I expect for my gains?

I just want any help I can get, I am desperate at this point. Nothing ever seems to work for me. Thanks.
