Apologies for the typo. I wasn't even sure that this question had gone through - every time I I clicked on anything at all I got a long list of categories and nothing else. My question was, as much as anything, an attempt to see whether to site was working at all. It seems it is and, indeed, I can now get access to the main areas.

And plus, if I put that question in "health" people woulda said something stupid like "oh just quit it'll give you cancer" and that is NOT the answer I'm looking for! and another thing I seen someone put up a question about cigarettes and it was in beer, wine and spirits

It's the internet. This is a huge, interactive website... stuff happens. Sometimes it just takes a little patience or restarting the computer... or if a technical issue, it gets resolved.
