Does a Living Will have to be filed with a lawyer in order to put to use?

    Give copies to your doctors, family members and the person you have chosen as your power of attorney for health care.

    No, doesn't have to be filed with anyone, although giving a copy to your doc to put in his or her files isn't a bad idea.

    it has to be in the hands of someone who will be responsible at the time of your death or it will have no effect

    you probably need to have someone that you trust who will follow your wishes in the living will, it will serve no purpose if it is filed away in your filing cabinet that no one but you has access
