Only one problem – no-on can predict when solar flares are going to strike. Following a large scale coronal mass ejection we have less than a day’s notice that a solar storm is heading our way.

If it happens, which it inevitably will at some point, the solution is to switch everything off until the storm of charged particles has passed us by. Once it’s over everything can be switched back on again and it will work fine.

With no lighting, no internet, no TV or anything, it would be a perfect opportunity to go and watch the spectacular light show that will be occurring – the aurorae like we’ve never seen them before.

The likelihood of such an event in any one year is very small. The last time a solar storm occurred of a magnitude that would have disrupted electronics around the world was in 1859 – the Carrington Event, back then of course there was hardly anything to disrupt so it wasn’t a problem; the main casualty was the telegraph system.

Is it possible that a major solar flare could cause damage to the power grid and shut down electronics. But for you to predict it will happen this year is silly.

Nothing happens or exist in this world that the imagination and feelings of one can do harm to you and me. Your question can really be answered by you! Did you feel that this warning of the breakdown of such internet will really come? Have you been informed from a reliable scientist-technologist with an unshakable proof that such feelings of the stoppage of the internet service really will occur? If man has invented such use of the internet(computers) it is logically it has its own studies in the event such usefulness of the computer will come to cease of functioning. If your answer are all positive, do you still feel threatened? Got it?
