Question about 2 year old kohlrabi?

I didn't really have much of a winter this year, so my kohlrabi from last fall is growing like crazy.

Is it only going to go to seed? Or will it fatten out the stem/bulge that never developed last year? I'm trying to decide whether to rip them out of the garden to make room for something productive.

It is likely to bulge, but even if it does not, the flowering stems and flowers are a delicacy!!! You can eat those as asparagus is eaten!

I would recommend leaving those in for another month and if it does not bulge or flower, get rid of it!

Meanwhile you can start other things in seeding trays and transplant directly when the plant is spent...
