Do you think that war games desensitize what war really is?

I have a 12 year old brother, he is addicted to cod. He does nothing but rant on about how cool war is, and how good he would be in a war, and how he'd be a really good shot. I also find that alot of other kids his age, and above kind of think the same way. Why would anyone be this ignorant?

yes, it portrays it in a fashion as such to be glamorous and fun, without immediate long lasting severe consequences.

but that's not to say all who play these games fall victim to being desensitized by such. i'd imagine the reality of war would invoke a good enough emotion to let one differentiate fun from real life and all the aspects associated with it. i.e. war

I don't believe so. It's just an excited 12 year old. I was the same way just as many boys are. Seeing action movies and video games makes you excited that's all. Plus with that extra testosterone pumping in early puberty it's just being a kid. It's nothing more than playing Madden makes you think you can make it in the NFL.
