Why do people care about Pluto?

Seriously, why do you care whether or not it's a planet?

Update:

How about this: My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us NOTHING (Because we probably would have eaten unhealthy food, and, being very educated, she would know that that is a bad idea)

Because it's something in our solar system that we don't fully understand.

Because if you called Pluto a planet, you'd be wrong and illogical.

For the very same reasons that you posted your question and lost five points. To stir up controversy online, to get personal attention paid to you online to feed your ego, and to get a lot of answers.

Some scientist care because the IAU's claim that Pluto has not cleared its orbit IS ILLOGICAL. The IAUs "facts' are not coordinated, so the whole controversy boils down TO PERSONAL and PROFESSIONAL CREDIBILITY POLITICS based on ILLOGICAL reasoning and uncoordinated facts. If Pluto has NOT cleared its orbit, SOMETHING massive would have impacted Pluto in the last 82 years enough to change it's orbit significantly. Pluto HAS cleared its orbit pretty well
