What will the doctor do?

I was taking the combined pill until I started having migraines which I'd never had before so the doctor said she can't give me anymore because it may eventually lead to a stroke. She put me on the progesterone only pill because she said it was the estrogen causing the migraines. I'm starting to have migraines with the POP pills now though as well, not as bad as before but if I tell the doctor will she put me on different POP pills or will she just tell me I can't take ANY contraception pills? Anyone been in this situation or know what will happen?

All pills tend to have similar side effects. Although vascular complications on the POP pill are unlikely, it is likely you will get the same side effects with all of them. It could be that hormone contraception is just not an option for you.

If the pill is a risk for you then they are following the correct procedure in not offering it any more.

The pill is just one of several options in family planning and they will talk you through the other options.

The pill is of course the easiest option of all them but it is not risk free and the decision they have made about your treatment is based on statistics so very relevant.

If you talk to the doctor and tell them your worries about not been able to take ANY contraceptive pills then they should be able to talk you through some alternative methods of birth control which dont contain any hormones.

Ive never suffered migranes from the pill but I personally can not take any hormonal contraception because it causes depression. After a lot of trial and error me and my Doc found something that works.
