Transfering hardware to a new pc?

I recently received a Lenovo ThinkCentre and have been trying to upgrade the graphics card for awhile. Unfortunately, after trying multiple cards, Ive come to the conclusion that this pc was just not made for high end graphics. It only has about 3.5 inches of vertical clearance inside, and no card I can find will fit.

So Im basically wondering, since the pc is overall great except the graphics, which is sitting in its case next to me, would it be possible to just transfer all the components to a new case and install the graphics card then? Im worried about how to do the motherboard and cpu, and Im not even sure if its possible.

Any help would be great, and I can post specs if needed.

If it's a micro-ATX motherboard and you need more clearance, as long as your case is a micro-ATX or mid-ATX (preferable) and you have an ATX PSU, you should have the clearance you need, though it might depend a little on the case itself when it comes to cable management and the drive bays (these are just some general suggestions). Is the motherboard affixed to a motherboard tray that is removable? Do you have a drive caddy? In general, how are things arranged?

Provided the case is an ATX variant (micro- or mid-tower) and the motherboard is a micro-ATX board, you should be fine.

Any additional specs/info you can post would be helpful as well (dimensions, etc.).

Don't know about the Lenovo ThinkCenter specifically but most computer manufacturers use their own custom cases and motherboards. They don't usually use standard ATX/mATX boards. Sometimes the power supplys are not standard either. This is one of the reasons that I decided to build my own boxes from now on. I got tired of getting rid of the whole computer because the manufacturer had a non standard motherboard and I needed to replace the CPU and motherboard to upgrade. Even if you can, it is more work to move all your parts to a new box then to just build one from the ground up. Sell it then buy something else or build your own. Also there are a few decent low profile graphics cards out there. Something like the Radeon 6670 is not a bad card although it is not for high end gaming.

Yes you can transfer all the parts to the new case all though be extremely careful, and remember how it was connected up, but it should work.
