I love puns too!
That Was All She Wrote
She woke up one night and decided it was over
I came home from work to find out she was gone
We would fight, but the bottom line is I still love her
I thought she knew this was true, but I guess I’m wrong
CHORUS #1
For there on the table that caught my eye
Was a simple, hand-written note
She had chosen a single word, “goodbye”,
And that was all she wrote
Maybe I’ve been working on working too hard
Maybe I shouldn’t have let things just be
Maybe there was too much time apart
To show what she really meant to me
Well, hindsight has such perfect visions
When you’re busy and selfish, you don’t set things straight
You allow outside pressure inside decisions
From the looks of things now, it’s just too late
CHORUS #1
For there on the table that caught my eye
Was a simple, hand-written note
She had chosen a single word, “goodbye”,
And that was all she wrote
BRIDGE
I never knew why I blew my one last chance
Was it too hot-headed or more romance?
If she’d stayed, I’d give in to all demands
But my fate is no longer in my hands
CHORUS #2
For there on the table getting wet from my eye
Was a simple, hand-written note
She had chosen a single word, “goodbye”,
And that was all she wrote
And that was all she wrote
And that was all she wrote
She left a single word note
And that was all she wrote

Somehow I feel like crying in my beer when I read your lyrics. And it feels like that is what YOU are doing. That being said, it does appear as though you have gone through a traumatic split up with somebody and I can relate to that. It's just that I would rather not. Your lyrics, as well put together as
they are, do manage to make me feel depressed, as it seems YOU feel. But a lot of really good work has come from people going through extreme emotional changes. I do hope you come out of it. I would like to read what you do then.
