    It's B. pounds

w (pound) = 3.7 (pound - I am assuming this is the pound when the cat was born) + 18.8a[(pound per year) x (years of age) = pound]

They must have the same units to be added/subtracted together.

    For example:

    1 apple + 1 apple = 2 apples

    You cannot have...

    1 apple + 1 orange = 2 apples/oranges... this statement is wrong..

Just like the other answers who said C is incorrect.

w (pound) = 3.7 (years) + 18.8a (pound) <-------------- this statement makes no sense. How can you add pound to years and then it equals to pound.

I found my answer when I saw Weight at the front. Then I check 18.8a to confirm my answer. So I'm 100% sure the answer is B. pounds.
