The kindle fire is running android as an operating system, which has an impressive selection of acts. While it does not have as many as iOS, it has all the main apps, and you should have no problem finding what you need. All the major apps ported from iOS to android.

In most cases. The Kindle Fire runs a modified version of Android though it doesn't have access to all the apps in the Google Play market (formerly Android Marketplace)
