It's necessary to stain tissues because they're otherwise difficult to see and some just blend in with backdrops underneath microscopes or the plates they're on.

    Hi Nicole:)

    Nice question.

You see bacteria can be differentiated into two different groups dependent on a simple staining procedure called Gram staining.

Cells that are stained purple by this procedure are Gram-positiv and thus have a thick cell wall of peptidoglycan, while cells that become pink/red have a thinner cell wall.

It can be very usefull to know of which of the two groups the bacteria belongs when diagnosting a patient fx as this would affect the treatment AFAIK.

user-friendly stain using crystal violet will show violet cells,in case you do common staining with methylene blue then you definately notice blue cells. In Gram staing Gram effective bacteria look voilet colored on the same time Gram undesirable seem pink colored. In pill stain pill is stained tender faint blue. In acid speedy staing cells acquire magenta shade. In undesirable staing cells are colorless and history is black. Endospore staining colours the spore green, on the same time as telephone seems pink in shade. in case you're even though at a loss for words take help of a e-e book on organic and organic stains.only top luck.
