What is your opinion on age gaps in relationships?

my 17 y.o. friend (girl) has started going out with a 45 year old guy, I met him today for the first time & he seems nice enough but what are general opinions on it?

They're both kinda weird. I don't see problems with age gaps later on in life e.g.- 55y.o. dating 45 year old but now it seems weird. Normally older guys who go out with 17 year olds aren't after a good relationship, they're after one thing. Which is my main concern.

But how can I talk to her about it? The one thing you do when people say not to be with someone is get attached...

Thanks for any opinions. I respect there will be hate but please refrain from too much bad language, I'm only trying to find opinions and concerns for her, not trying to hate on him

I'd have to draw the line at double her age, lol. The 45 year old deserves to get his *** beat. What the hell can a 17 year old possibly offer him? What do they even talk about? They are in two different worlds. She hasn't even finished high school yet.

That's disgusting. Are you sure she's not being pressured into it? Make sure he's not abusing her because it is very unusual for a 17 year old to be interested in a 45 year old! Maybe even have a chat with him..

as long as they are both classed as adults then its up to them and its really none of our business to interfere ---- dont assume 18 is "the age" either ---- if she is under the age of consent then there is a valid concern ---- you make too many assumptions about the motives of people
